As good as description glad I read ALL the reviews
This item exceeded our expectations. It’s a winner in our book. We have had many duraflame heaters and have loved them all. Our previous ones all heated from below. Since a recent purge we were unable to locate them. We decides to order a new one. We were excited to try this one. Love the color options. A bit pricier than we would have liked but well worth it. it puts out a good bit of heat. Heating our large almost 800 sq ft room at only a setting of 64 degrees within 20 min. We actually had to turn the ceiling fan on to circulate the air. This baby pumps out heat. The light settings ,on the logs, for effect are gorgeous. After heating the room, we opted for just the flames on for effect. Nice ambient light and mood. We chose red, instead of our classic bronze and are so glad we did. It’s a beautiful color, glossy finish. We have never been disappointed with duraflame in the past and have picked another winner yet again. love that it has a remote and that you can have items sit on top with no worry. We do have it placed away from the wall for ventilation but I’m sure it could be placed closer , safely with still no issues. I’ll add a photo once it’s been placed and decorated. We have it in front of our wood burning insert, that we no longer use. It makes for a nice center piece in the room and we couldn’t be happier. A good size at 24 inches wide. Not flimsy, sturdy. Easy to attach the legs. Solid metal construction.Love the real working door. Controls are all digital hidden inside.

Awesome. I cannot and will not review the ‘heat’ …
Awesome. I cannot and will not review the ‘heat’ aspect of this faux fireplace insofar as I have no need to use it as a heater. I wanted a ‘fireplace affect’ for my high-rise two-bedroom condominium (in the living room). Is it the greatest faux fireplace in the world? Probably not. But, unless you want to pay gobs of money (or, while you’re your saving gobs of money) for the current faux fireplaces on the market; this is probably the best alternative at the best price. Coffee Fan’s video shows you what you need to see. The fire display is very authentic. I would surmise that it actually is on some kind of ‘loop’ insofar as it repeats itself; but, I gotta tell you – you can’t figure it out!! To this end, Duraflame created an extremely authentic fire display that moves and evolves as naturally as a real fire in a fireplace would. In terms of ‘did it live up to the proverbial hype’? I would say ‘yes’. It is SMALL, for sure (roughly 2’x2′). I wish Duraflame would come out with this exact same thing with options of 3’x3′ or 4’x4′. That said, however, this little puppy sufficiently creates the ambiance of a fireplace, in small spaces, if that’s what you’re looking for in confined and limited areas. For example, I can’t have a gas fireplace here because condominium bylaws don’t allow me to install extra gas lines. To this extent, I’m limited in what I can actually put in this place. As they improve technology, etc., perhaps, one day, that won’t be a problem. In the meantime, this is probably your best bet if you’re specifically looking for ‘fireplace ambiance’ in small and bylaw-limited spaces. Just the mere sight of it inspires that ‘cozy inside’ feeling normally attributed to real fireplaces (which is why we love them). If that ‘cozy inside’ fireplace ambiance is what you’re looking for – and you can’t/don’t have a real fireplace – this is your next best option without installing some sort of $2,000 faux fireplace. It sufficiently does the trick. At the very least, given the price, try it out and see how you feel about it. That’s what I did.For the heater: I have no need for it as a heater; however, I did turn on the fan out of curiosity. I agree with reviews that said it was relatively low noise level. You can hear it; but it’s not obtrusive (subjective point of view, of course; but it’s not loud). I live in a quasi-urban/suburban area; lots of ambient background sound (e.g., highways, sirens, dogs barking). It wasn’t any more noticeable than that (more like background noise). If you live in a quiet suburban/rural area where ambient sound might be customarily relatively low, (e.g., crickets, occasional dog barking) it might sound louder to you. Apologize, I can’t speak to it’s ability to heat a room; I bought it specifically for a faux fireplace affect.Durability: Unknown at this time. I got this thing two days ago and have run it nearly constantly for those two days. It’s early December here now….I’ll try and post back a couple months from now and let you all know how it’s performance was over the course of time.Sound: None. It will not provide any kind of crackling/pop noise associated with either real fireplaces or wood-burning stoves. The aesthetic is visual only (but still sufficient to provide ‘inside cozy’ fireplace affect from visual perspective). If you’re using it as a heater, then fan noise comments above apply.Little baby fake fireplace = pretty awesome. Packs a big punch for its small size. Going to get my glass of wine, my kittens, and watch my favorite re-runs on TV while I’m enjoying my little faux fireplace. Feeling pretty snuggy warm here. That sums up the affect if you’re looking for faux fireplace affect only.

Pleased, day 1 out of the box – and still 2 months later
TWO month update: I’m still pleased as punch. We’ve had single digits outside, and this is heating like a champ. I don’t use it to heat a cold house – I use it to take the edge off a cold sunroom. It easily does this. The remote works very well too. I’m so glad I bought this and highly recommend.Initial review: I looked at a lot of these electric heaters by many brands. So many were such poor quality (mostly plastic and flimsy). This is quite substantial. Functional: began heating the room within a couple of minutes, no smell, nice realistic design, and very uniform bronze color. Within 30 mins I was comfortable in what was a chilly room. I was concerned about the plastic legs mentioned, but they are twice as thick as many competitors. Even the fire display looks fairly realistic. Time will tell about energy efficiency. I got this to use in my sunroom during the winters, to take the chill edge off the space.Other pros: I like the beveled glass, the unit does not get hot, and the only place it gets mildly warm is immediately where the top heater is. The door rim just below the heat output, does NOT get hot. The noise reminds me of a soft white noise, which is coming from the inside fan.Other commenters asked about whether legs are required: the directions equivocally say “yes” they must be installed. I agree they are a must – mechanical items like this are built to need certain airflow around them for safety reasons, even if they don’t get hot on exterior. If you don’t allow for this, the unit can stress, and you’ll compromise the longevity.Assembly tip: using an extra long, thinner Phillips head screwdriver, attach the screws at first partially, starting with middle screw – do not fully tighten. The longer length screwdriver helps you install it at the correct angle without battling the leg when you tight it. Attach the other two screws, also partially in same manner. Then go back and tighten all 3, beginning with the middle, JUST until it gives you a solid full resistance. The screws will give resistance from the start, but you’ll know when they are tight enough because they do come to a full hard stop. Do NOT tighten past this. The goal is a flush fit leg to unit, and minimize any gaps. Once you tighten, the legs should not jiggle or wobble. They should feel sturdy and rigid. (Starting with the middle, helps ensure all three leg screws will be flush with no gaps.) Take your time. It will be worth it.Cons: all minor – I don’t like the temp display hidden by the door, but it’s not a deal breaker at all. Like another commenter said – once you set it, you likely won’t need to change it. I also wish the legs were metal. This is my personal preference strictly. But they did provide very stiff plastic ones.I may up date this after using for a month.

Very adjustable, easy to move. Remote is excellent.

  5. Colleen Lapello

Realistic flame, even my dogs watch it. The stove is very sturdy, and has glass sides that are really a great viewing feature. The infrared heat warms the room up very nicely, so the room stays warm longer, once the heating is turned off, and you just want flame for viewing. I find this type of heat is better than the regular electric I use to own. Beautiful beveled glass front door. Remote control is handy and temp setting is on the stove, but all can be turned on and off with remote. The flame has several settings for amount of flame you want to view. Great reviews on this stove, excellent delivery. Was worth the money to get through the long winter darkness!!
