After 1 year – Great product for a fraction of the price
I did a full kitchen renovation that finished December 2017, I’m writing this review one year later on December 14th 2018.When looking at 36 inch ranges I came across this Thor unit. Initially I was very hesitant as there weren’t many reviews at the time. Thor is essentially a Chinese version of the Viking series at a fraction of the cost. I had considered other brands like Samsung, but I didn’t want the electronics connectivity they were offering. I figured a smart device like that would probably fail since it was controlled via smart phone and digital key pads. I wanted something that would last and figured a traditional style gas range with manual valves was the way to go. I also wanted a range where the handles faced outwards from the cabinets instead of outwards from the counter top.In the end I wound up choosing this Thor unit over a Viking unit which was $4k+ at the time or the GE unit which was about $3k+ at the time. I figured even if it didn’t work, I wouldn’t be out that much and I could return it. Much to my surprise this unit has been an absolute champ. The unit was shipped via pallet in heavy duty packaging. The install was easy for my contractors, but make sure you read the instructions. The unit should absolutely not be flush with the counter top. This poses a fire hazard as it makes it easier for things to fall into the burners from the counter top. You will actually see there are screws around the entire unit that are there to prevent you from trying to mount the unit flush to the counter top. Please read your manual before installing. After one year the unit is still working great. We have enough burners to do large meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s an excellent buy and we’ve had no problems with it. The cast iron grates look great and the stainless steel cleans easy. I honestly would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for high quality performance on a budget.

    Well constructed & attractive….great stove!
This is a quality made product and a great value when compared with the price of high end stove tops. Attractive unit with heavy duty crates. Conversion to LP easy with the kit which is purchased separately. Fits in a standard 36″ base and requires minimum support frame. Leveling legs make fit to the counter top seamless. Requires that the front of the cabinet base be cut and if you are installing in place of an existing counter-top stove you will have to cut the front of the counter but that should dissuade the purchase, as the front knob design is well worth the little additional work.K

Looks like and works as well as a Viking for a third the price
We love this cook top! It’s an absolute beast and looks fantastic. The heat-out put is crazy. I’m pretty sure I could smelt iron with this thing. You can crank up all the burners to high and they all put out full power without any sputtering ( though I don’t recommend doing this as you may combust any surfaces within 6 ft – it gets HOT).We love how much space it has. You can fit six 12in pots on top – we didn’t see any other 36in cooktops capable of this.It has nice clean lines with sturdy, industrial-feeling materials. There is NO plastic anywhere on this thing. It is all stainless steel, cast iron, brass, and porcelain-coated steel. It’s made in the USA and the build quality is great. It seems quite serviceable – looks like everything can be accessed and replaced by removing some screws here or there. Our ONLY gripe is the color of the LEDs when the burners are on – blue doesn’t seem “right” to me. Plus, the wife has decided all accessories in the kitchen must be red. So now I’m considering swapping out the blue LEDs for red ones. Given the apparent ease of access to the guts of this thing, I think it might actually be do-able.Overall, if you’re looking at a Viking cooktop but aren’t hung up on the name, I say give this one a shot and save a couple grand.

    Great but…
The coatings don’t hold up well over time…

Looks good, but totally worthless to cook.
Looks good, but totally worthless for cooking. The top of the grates sit 2 1/2 inch above the burners, meaning that it takes for ever to boil water. I will be returning this unit. Why in the world do they put such high grates?

    Great rangetop for the money
After three plus months of daily use the Thor 36-inch rangetop is exceeding our expectations. We installed the rangetop as part of a kitchen renovation and had it professionally installed and converted to propane with no issues. Adjustable feet on the bottom allow for easy, level installation in the cabinet. The burners have a full range of operation and work well on low flame. The burner controls are brightly lighted when on which is a good safety feature. The simmer burner (center front) is especially useful. The black enameled top pan is easy to clean with vinegar and the burners can be removed easily to accommodate a thorough cleaning. The steel grates are heavy and cooking pans and pots sit flat and do not have a tendancy to slide if bumped. The 36-inch top also accommodates the largest of canning pots or an iron grill pan with adequate clearances to cook on adjacent burners. The unit arrived on a wood pallet and was well packed. This rangetop, in my opinion, is a tremendous value as compared to other comparable but more costly rangetops.

Love, Love, Love our new Thor Range!!
Love, Love, Love this Range…We replaced our GE Profile cooktop with the Thor Range. I couldn’t be happier, we looked at other Ranges that were 3 times the price, but that just didn’t make sense to us, then we stumbled upon this Thor Range online and read all the positive reviews and thought, what the heck, it’s worth a try!!….I could not be happier, I absolutely LOVE cooking on my new Range! I think I’ve cooked more on it in the past 2 weeks since we had it installed, than I had in past 2 years! The Thor Range far exceeded our expectations in appearance and functionality!!

High end professional look for great price
People tried to steer me away from this as Thor is relatively unheard of brand. I am glad I did not listen! It looks just like the professional ranges and works like one too. It has high capacity burners and heats up a large pot of boiling water very quickly. I could not be more pleased with this product, and especially the price.

The gas cook top is great, looks awesome. Will write the next review after installation is completed.

  10. Kyle Zielke

This stove is beautiful and puts out enough heat to be on par with any commercial stove. However, hope that nothing goes wrong with your stove as getting it serviced has been a nightmare. UPDATED: Took 21 weeks in total to get the issue corrected. This was 6 visits from a tech and 4 separate pieces that needed to be shipped. Now that it is repaired the rating has been moved from 1 star to 4 star. This stove is the best stove for the price point along with looked great and having the capacity to sear at a very high temperature. Also love the middle burner that allows you to run it at a very low simmer.
