Great heater
I got this for a very reasonable price through one of Amazonâs sales. We are having so much trouble with our furnace this winter that I needed something to help heat the house. This gives off a lot of heat and it can be adjusted to how warm you want it. On low it kicks when it starts to get chilly in here. On medium it stays on constantly with warm heat coming through. High heat is very hot so I donât use that setting very much. At first when you turn it on itâs a little loud but quiets down after a few mins and you can still hear it but itâs not crazy loud or anything! So far itâs working great!

It’s perfect to set in front of.
This style of heater is far better than a convection heater if you want to stay warm. Unlike a convection style this radiant keeps me warm as long as I’m 3 or 4 feet from the front of it. I’ve used it with temps in the teens and stayed nice and toasty setting in front of it which won’t happen with a convection heater.

Loud, not much heat
I bought this to take the chill off my bathroom after showering. My bathroom is approx. 8 x 10. It’s very loud. Somewhere between a blow drier and a vacuum cleaner, and at low setting which I thought would be fine, there’s almost no heat. It has to be less than 18″ away to feel any heat at all, and high setting is not much better. I have an Edenpure heater, so I’m familiar with infrared heaters. This one is just plain bad, and I intend to return it asap.

Itâs got a fan and you can definitely hear it but itâs not so loud that we canât sleep or watch tv, etc. It heats up the room and we are happy with our purchase.

HAS ISSUES
Worked fine for almost two winters. It pus out a lot of heat as it should at 1500 watts. However,1) if it gets too hot, it will turn itself off. The orange lamp will go off. You then have to manually turn the switch off and wait ten minutes. After ten minutes, turn the switch back on and it will work again with the orange lamp back on. You do have to wait the full ten minutes. It will not cool off and work on its own. You must turn the switch off and wait ten minutes.2) Dust gets sucked inside which will cause the heater to overheat prematurely or not work at all at the high setting. The first time this happened, I put a vacuum hose to the intake vent and cleaned it out a bit and it seemed to solve the problem, but only for a few weeks. I suspect I will have to open it up to clean it out correctly. As of right now, the medium setting works fine, but the high setting only works for a few minutes before it over heats. See point 1) above. So we are using it only on medium and it runs all day. However you only get half the heat – 750 watts.The price just went down to $37.99 which is why I’m giving four stars. If it was still $63.41 which is what I paid two years ago, I’d give it three stars. But decent large 1500 watt quartz heaters at a good price are hard to find these days.

Takes a LONG time to heat up the room.
I needed a heater for my bedroom to keep me warm as it gets very cold. I did some research and learned that this type of heater with the quartz in it is supposed to be the best.As for safety goes, I do like the feature where if you just so much as tip it slightly over it will stop running and turn off. That is great in case of accidents. Also, it does not get to hot on the outside either when you touch it, it does not feel like it burning up.What I do not like is that it does not get hot quickly, but rather takes a long time and you have to leave it on.Once it does get the room hot, it works great to keep it evenly heated.But, I was looking for something for some type of immediate warmth and this is not it. I have to remind myself to turn it on way before I am going in my room as it takes like at least 30 minutes to warm it up.It works good but it is a gradual heat that takes time and also it is a little noisy also.It does seem durable and like it will last awhile.

Love this. Have had 3 just like it.
I started using this when it was made by another company. I wore it out and found they weren’t making it anymore so I found this one just like it. I am on my 2nd one in 10 years. I don’t want heat in my bedroom so I cut off my central unit in winter and only use this. It’s in my livingroom/kitchen. It heats the whole area. The best thing is since I cut my central unit off in winter this keeps my electric bill under $100 a month all winter and I’m still comfy. Doesn’t have bells and whistles like remote or digital setting but it does have tip over shut off. I have 5 cats so that’s important to me. I don’t need bells and whistles just a good heater. Well worth the money.

Everything is good. One amazing feature is how easy it is to change position in the room or move to another location. Heat is radiant. I think other customers will like this and Black and Decker always came highly recommended.As their usual excellence, Amazon.ca was very careful. This is a good company.

BLACK AND DECKER INFRARED QUARTZ TOWER HEATERI love the way it came packaged very securely. I believe this is a refurbished one second use product that I purchased so far so great. However Itâs only got two level levels of heat. Low and high.For the money it is great value and easy to use!The only negatives I can think of is that a) there is no remote to shut it off and b) it is a lot noisier than I thought it would be because when I was doing the research to get a reasonably priced infrared heater, it said that these are much quieter than regular heaters or even ceramic heaters, but it is giving off quite a bit of noise, so not sure if my neighbors will like it.ð«
