Perfect to warm up the area outside a walk-in shower.
These are low profile and work well.

    Wiring help
This is for the Model 164 with two lights. The installation instructions are for new construction only. I made a cardboard template to cut out a hole in the ceiling. The wiring was a bit confusing at first. Here are the wire identifications: Red: one of the lights, Black: the other light, Yellow: heat? (this was confusing since the heat comes from the lights), Blue: exhaust fan. With two 250 watt red/infrared bulbs you get adequate heat. I don’t think the single bulb would be enough.

    Pretty Good Value
I bought this item to replace a 25 year old fan/light/heater in a very small bathroom. It has two light sockets so I put a light in one and a clear heat lamp in the other. The heat was very minimal, so I went to the store and bought a red heat lamp to replace the light. That left me with a clear heat lamp and a red heat lamp. The heat is acceptable now with both on. We’ll see when winter rolls around again. The clear heat lamp does double duty as the light. Everyone who has seen it likes the modern look. The fan works well and is a lot quieter than the old one.As for the install, the instructions with the unit has a wiring diagram, but did not tell me what color wire went with each feature. I’m not an electrician so it was hard to figure it out. I had a friend come over and look at it, and we figured this out:Black and Yellow – Heat lamp (One of these wires is the overload that turns on the fan if it gets too hot.)Blue – FanWhite – Neutral (There are two of these)Red – Light/other heat lampGreen – GroundOnce we got past that, the installation was pretty simple, although the unit was smaller than the one I took out so a little sheet rock work was needed. We also had a pipe in the attic that prevented us from fitting the unit easily between the joists so we had a cut about three inches from the braces to make it slide in under the pipe. Overall for the money, this is a nice unit. I bought two, so I’ll be installing again in another bathroom soon.

Nice and warm even on a higher ceiling
Replaced a weak fan that was over the toilet, went up into the attic to stabilize & separated switches for fan/heat. Smooth fan sound and made a big temperature difference while soaking in our tub. Gives a warm glow output that’s not too bright, great buy!

Noisy…Difficult to replace old rough in…
Out of round fan wheel makes annoying pulsing sound.I replaced the same model Broan, except new fan housing is on the opposite side of rough in. Broan no longer makes ccw replacement motor wheel for my original opposite side fan configuration. So I had to replace the whole rough in.The new model hanging brackets screwed on/off from inside the rough in, so I thought I might be able to use the same sheet rock cut out, but the new fan housing on the opposite side of the rough interfered with the floor joist. So, I still needed to cut out more sheet rock anyhow. If I did this again, I would have gotten a quieter fan assembly…and just planned to cutout/ replair more sheet rock.

Great light & fan. Instructions might be difficult for some.
Great price. Easy to replace my existing broken exhaust fan from attic side of ceiling. Used triple switch to wire lights and fan individually. Wiring instructions are vague on how exhaust fan thermostat works so separating them might be difficult for those unfamiliar with electrical. So, if you can’t figure it out, you probably shouldn’t be fooling with wiring anyway. Also, the plastic damper door on exhaust is very flimsy, mine broke when I tried to put it back together after it fell out while in the attic with low light. I should have taken my time to reinstall door because I had to modify the broken door to fit upside down which took a couple of hours. The lights and fan work great once installed correctly. The unit I bought was used/new/open and slightly bent, but easy to straighten. Happy with outcome.

Same great design..after all these years… with a few updates.
I originally bought this for parts to swap out with my older NuTone 9427p, but unfortunately, the cover is not supplied with the older V-type springs. The older style cover, NuTone S89260000, is available but I only found it for $85 on Amazon. The fan motor does appear however to be an easy swap if you have the old mounting bracket. The bulb mounts in the newer unit appear to be better quality, so if you can figure out how to swap those too, it will keep the bulbs from flopping around as much.

Perhaps the worst heat lamp fixture ever. The installed fan is for cooling the fixture and switches on with a thermostat as required. Often. It was annoying to begin with but as time has past (about 2 years since install) the fans (I have 2) have degraded and sound like industrial ventilators. They can be unplugged in the fixture and all seems well until the heat fuse blows and the fixture goes dark. How to fix that I have yet to discover.
