Nice flexible and fast far infrared heat pad
I am a fan of far infrared heating pads for deep heating and this is my 3rd UTK product. I trust this vendor as I have had an excellent experience with their customer service (one of my old pads was replaced within a few days when the cord stopped functioning).Unlike the others, this one does not have the jade/tourmaline stones to help transmit the heat. The manual says it uses carbon fiber heating wire tech. The up side to this is that it heats up very rapidly compared to the stone tech. Also, without the stones, the pad is thin and flexible, making it easier to wrap around and closely hug different parts of your body. Does it work?? Itâs obviously impossible for us to measure how deep the heat really goes. But I can say that it does take away my usual early morning muscle tightness/stiffness just as well as the âstonedâ pads, and you donât have to wait as long for the heat. Itâs great to help warm up before exercise.The 1ft x 2 ft dimension is ample for heating my lower back, hamstrings, and is good to wrap around my legs. As described in the manual, It does reduce heat if the pad is folded onto itself, probably a safety feature.The control on this is simpler, and youâre actually selecting different temperature ranges (P1, P2, etc) instead of a specific target temperature. P4 is plenty (max P8 is way too hot). Timer is in 15 increments. No brainer: highly recommend this product. It works well for what a deep heating pad is supposed to do, with some added benefits.

Not hot
I got this as a less expensive alternative to the pads with stones (I loved mine but unfortunately it stopped working after 3 years and feels too expensive to buy that often). I am surprised how this pad doesnât get hot. Itâs warm, but not hot like the stone pads. Not even close. Iâm disappointed thatâs for sure. I would recommend a Sunbeam heat pad instead.

Infrared heat is the way to go
Infrared heating pads were suggested to me for the pain of arthritis. I bought this because it was more expensive than standard heating pads but not as expensive as the ones with embedded stones. First time I used it I was so amazed at the penetration of heat to my sore muscles. I fell asleep on it at about P3; if I did that with a standard heating pad it would have burned me or at least woken me up because it was too hot. So soothing and I actually felt so much better the next morning I couldn’t beileve it! I’ll never buy a standard heating pad again. I will update as I have read a few too many reviews that says it doesn’t heat as well after a few uses, but so far I love this thing!
