Fixed My 15 Year Old Whirlpool Duet Dryer!
My old dryer has been a sturdy workhorse for the family until one day, the heat suddenly stopped. I turned off the circuit breaker and broke out the Multimeter. I was able to quickly diagnose the heating coil had failed and was an open circuit.Upon removal, I could clearly see the coil was broken, most likely due to years and years of heat stress.I ordered this part, which seems to be fairly universal for most manufacturers’ dryers. It arrived the next day, and within 20 minutes of opening the package, my dryer was back in action.Compared to needing to shell out a ton of cash for a new dryer, buying and installing this part was the absolute best possible outcome.There are some good YouTube videos on this repair, but beware, there are some that are totally wrong.There is a little half-circle tab at the end of the housing the coil slides into. This tab must go inside the opening at the back of the dryer. This is what holds it securely at the back. Some videos are misleading where the guy doesn’t actually secure it and acts like everything is good. Don’t be that guy!
