The Ember Mirror radiant panel looks just like an ordinary mirror. Yet, looks can be deceiving. This 3.9- by 2-foot mirror emits 800 watts of heat so that it can heat a room and even function as a heating source/mirror defogger in bathrooms. Furthermore, mount it vertically in a dry area of your bathroom, accessorize it with a towel bar, and you have a beautiful, fully functional towel warmer. Of course, the panel can be mounted to a wall in any room of your home to provide comforting, even heat. Furthermore, unlike convection heating, this radiant panel does not circulate dust or other allergens into the air. It also is unique in that it delivers heat in the most energy efficient way possible. Ember radiant panels have one of the highest possible efficiency rates and consume the least amount of energy possible*. These panels are also dual connection, meaning they can be used “as is” to plug into a standard 120 VAC outlet or they can be modified by a licensed electrician to have a hardwired 120 VAC electrical connection. Note: Towel bars must be purchased separately. * Infrapower Manufacturing Ltd.

Doesnât really radiate heat.
The good:Sturdy, solid construction.Looks very nice.Electrically safe. The bad:Unit doesnât really radiate heat. Gets quite hot to the touch after a while tho.Tried to give it away twice. Returned to me both times.Overall:If you have a real need for radiant heat in a cold room, look elsewhere. For its rated wattage, the description seemed too good to be true. And yes, it was too good to be true.Would I buy another one?Nope! I took a chance. Sorry I bought 2. Not Amazon or the sellers issue, so Iâll see if I can make a glass end table or something out of them.

Heats up a room without drying the air!
Update:It’s been 2 years since I bought these wall heaters, and I still love them!I’ve learned that during the coldest days in the winter, these surpass my HVAC system and space heaters when it comes to heating up the cold spots in the house. The infrared wavelengths these generate warm up the ceiling, walls, vinyl and carpeted floors, furniture, and windows, essentially making all those surfaces radiant heaters without damaging them.——————–I got these for a couple different reasons. I was told Far Infrared has some therapeutic detox properties, and I wanted a way to lessen my dependence on my HVAC system which dries the air in my house. I have a couple of cold spots I wanted to address, and hoped these would do it.I’m really pleased to say they do a great job!I installed one under the kitchen counter on the wall facing the back door and windows. The wall panel heats up the granite counter top, wall and flooring, eventually reaching the wall and windows 8′ away. There’s a distinct difference in the temperature of the wall closest to this wall panel and the wall on the other side of the back door.I installed the second in my office next to the windows, so it heats up the wall, windows, blinds, and furniture. It does a nice job taking the chill off that 10’x12′ space.I should mention that while these wall panels do heat up the surrounding surfaces, the surrounding surfaces are never too hot to touch. These come with a warning that the glass of the wall panels shouldn’t be touched while in use. I had some reservations about the heat these generate marring the paint and/or drywall, but the cool metal backing, and spacing, is doing a great job of protecting my home. The third picture I’ve uploaded shows that gap. I also had some reservations about using these around my curious cats. I’ve been pleased that while my cats are enjoying lounging in the warm spots these create, they haven’t tried to touch them. The installation was pretty easy. I would have loved for the brackets on the back to be spaced so I could have mounted these on studs as opposed to using the included anchors, but the anchors appear sufficient to bear the weight. Spackling will be sufficient to repair the holes if I ever decide to move them. If you’re going to mount them on a wall adjacent to waterlines, like I did, please be sure to use a stud finder that will tell you where the water lines are.The main reason I love these is they do heat up a space and they are quiet since they don’t have a fan. I put mine on a countdown timer, which you can see in the first pic so I don’t have to remember to turn them off when the house gets warm in the afternoon.

Silent
Silent and puts out nice heat, but really needs a thermostat – we bought a plug in remote thermostat – otherwise your choices are off or on.

Silent and warm
Once installed, or even just propped up against the wall, they radiate a sunny day like warmth that’s nice to live with. They do get hot to the touch so think carefully about placement.

Second only to a woodstove
Live in high Nevada desert. Winds at 25 temps at 20. House is stick built, onsite, but well sealed. This heater alone can maintain a 40 degree gradient compared to outside (room is 15×25, 6″ walls). If it’s 20 outside, we will be 60 inside, with only 800 watts. I spaced it from the wall with 2x4s, so it is just under 2″ from the wall. It’s my wife’s favorite place to sit. Mounted it about 6″ from the floor. Great heater. Looks great. This is not a ‘paintable’ surface heater, but looks like tempered glass. It’s just not gonna crack, period. Built like its made to be handed down as an heirloom. Not cliche’, meaning that most people have never seen one but everyone likes it. No floor footprint. Order with receptacle remote, because the heater has no switch. Having a mobile thermostat is really nice. Super improvement over floorstanding oil/radiator heaters that we are used to. And WAY more efficient.
